Probably the single most important task you should do on your computer is to keep you Anti Virus program up to date.

The majority of Anti Virus programs work by having a list of known viruses. When any file is accessed (opened / closed / edited, etc) the Anti Virus program checks it to see if it has a virus in it.

If you don't keep the list of viruses up to date, you leave yourself wide open to infection!
