FSEconomy is a website that allows you to fly assignments and earn virtual  money.

You can also join a Virtual Airline and make money for the airline. (I fly for World Frontier Airlines - WFA)

All you need is MS Flight Sim and the FSEconomy client program - oh and you also need to register (for FREE) on the FSEconomy website.

The basic concept… you rent an aircraft, fly some goods from A to B and get paid for doing so.

The principles of Flight Simulator Economy (FSE)

Are you new to FSE? Are you struggling to grasp the concepts? Here is a short explanation that may help you understand what it’s all about. It IS NOT a definitive guide, just some helpful theory guides.

  1. On FSE website
    1. Open the website www.fseconomy and login
    2. Find an assignment you want to fly and add it to MyFlight on FSE website
    3. Rent an aircraft that is at the departure airfield for your assignment.

  2. On FS Flight Sim
    1. Select the same aircraft you have rented in FSE.
    2. Use World / Go to airport to move your plane in FS9 to the same airfield as FSE.

  3. On FSEconomy client program
    1. Select Action / Start Flight.

  4. On FS9Fly the route the assignment requires.
    1. When at destination – Shut Down engines and apply parking brake.

  5. On FSEconomy client program
    1. FSEconomy client program will now detect that you have flown the correct route for the assignment and log the flight with the FSE website.

Click HERE to get these instructions as an MS Word document so you can print it out. (Or right click and choose 'Save As')

And that’s all there is to it – well not quite, there are always complications, so here is more info about some of the different scenarios you may encounter… (click on a subject to see more about it)

  2. Aircraft
    1. There is no aircraft at the departure airfield? This is quite common but easy to solve:
      1. Find the aircraft you want at a nearby airfield on the FSE site and rent it.
      2. In FSE client select Action / Start Flight (notice there will be no assignment shown in the FSE client window as you are flying empty just to move the aircraft within the FSE site)
      3. In FS9 fly to the assignments departure airfield, shut down engines & apply parking brake
      4. FSE client will then log flight
      5. On FSE site check you have the aircraft still rented – it should still be as you have some assignments on your MyFlight page waiting to go !!! If not then re-rent the same aircraft. (Note –the aircraft will now be at your assignments departure airfield)
      6. You can now do Step 3 to 5 listed in top section

    2. Fuel
      1. Do I rent Wet or Dry ? Answer coming soon

    3. How to stop your aircraft from being un-rented at each airfield
      1. You need to have a small load onboard that is to a destination airfield that you will never land at – this keeps the aircraft rented to you.

  3. FSE Client
    1. Incorrect payload
      1. Sometimes after selecting Action / Start Flight in the FSE client you will get a warning box about payload. Generally you can click on ignore loading and fly the assignment

        MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION COMING SOON....!!!!

    2. Flight Logging - Why does the FSE Client seem to hang?
      1. Sometimes the FSE client can take a long time to log the completed flight with the FSE website – it all depends on how busy the site is at the time or very rarely the site is ‘down’.
      2. The first thing to check is can you still get to the FSE website - if no then the site is down, so wait for it to come back up and your flight will be logged.
      3. If the FSE website is ok , then it could just be busy. If after about 10 minutes it still hasn't logged your flight then you will have to exit the FSE Client program. Check the FSE site to see if your assignment is complete.

It’s worth reading the FSE manual which is on the FSE website as its goes into a lot of detail. There is also lots of help in the FSE forums.
